Okay, the picking might be easier with the pinky rested on the pickup. The strumming is good, and then there is playing along to the song. To do that, please consider downloading Capo, that fantastic app that slows music down. Pretty cool.
Okay, from now on I'll definitely write down the music as well as the tablature. Duly noted... The picking you are doingis looking quite good, and you can do it without having to keep your eyes on it. We will play this song next week...
Both Arcade Fire and Band of Horses, in one lesson! Hah! The alternate picking (The ups and downs in a repetitive pattern) gets easier in time. Ditto with the palm of your right hand behind the bridge. Let's see how that turns out, too.
There's not as much to this song so far, but it's a rocker. Delay pedals, as I am thinking after your lesson, are not terribly expensive, but the good ones can cost from about $90 to about $300. Anything more is studio quality (meh). I like the Boss DD-7. That one is pretty fun. I'm sure there are some really cheap but fun ones around too.
ahhhhhhhhh, whatta great song! When it comes to the end of the song, my suggestion would be to try improvising melodically, like with octaves, feedback, etc. we will get more into this next week, of course. Almost done!
The only thing I want for you in this song, and the Wilco song as well, is to choose which way you'd like to play the power and barre chords. That's it! In fact, that's a perfect five minute practice idea. I never shared a warmup with you. We will do that next week...
Lesson Notes are a way of helping fellow learners focus their time and energy effectively, outside of lessons. Each lesson note has a summary and a practice suggestion that would take only five minutes to complete. I also provide a custom RSS feed of lesson notes for each student.
