Metal

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

Metal guitar hero night! Ahhh, bringing back the memories of my junior high school days, when Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets was all I listened to. Nice work!

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

I simply cannot imagine this band being happy at all. But still, they write some cool songs. We also finished this sucker up, and managed to drive all of my neighbors crazy at the same time. Pretty good!

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

Fantastic job with your song this week! I was happy to see you go at learning it in such a great way, and all by ear. Nice! We got through a couple more melodic patterns as well (26 down thus far). More of the same, next week.

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

Rock and Roll!!!!

When palm muting, my suggestion to is to make your palm completely parallel to the bridge of the guitar. That way, you can get that “Thump” sound.

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

Nice work tonight. We ended up getting into this Breaking Benjamin song, and I wanted to point out that as soon as you were able to find the first note of that melody, the rest came easy. Sometimes, all we need to do is find that first note, and the rest is simple.

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

Wow. Twisted Sister. Isn't that interesting? Also on the list would be Extreme's “More Than Words.” Both songs bring me back. Wow. Just wow.

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

The guitars seem to be tuned down a total of three semitones for this song. There was some trickiness, but otherwise it all came together. Let's play this one next week!

Five Minute Practice Suggestion:

Play this song...

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

We jumped into the solo for this song, andi think you will be able to play it pretty soon. After all, it's easier to play than Cliffs of Dover, in my opinion. Tapping requires some coordination, so play it slow in the beginning. Also, the bend needs to be a full bend, meaning it must hit the same note as the 24th fret.

Five Minute Practice Suggestion:

Play this solo, starting slowly, and then crank up the amp and play along.

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

It's the details that truly make your music good. That's why I was being a bit of a pest/nag tonight with Cliffs of Dover. I think it has really been coming together, but sometimes the details make the song. We'll also work on Sad But True next week. We didn't have too much time this week.

Five Minute Practice Suggestion:

I wrote down the tuning for how to play Sad But True. Go for it!

A Summary of Your Guitar Lesson:

Awesome. Already halfway through this song. I think you'll get even more comfy with the song as you play it even more, so please–pop on the headphones and go at it!

Five Minute Practice Suggestion:

Play along to the song!
