Excellent work on Last Kiss by Pearl Jam. Very good stuff. I could be more of a pest about it, but play along with the song! It's nice, plus you would be playing along to pearl jam (which would be sweet, right?). We also started to go over Sweet Virginia. I'll need for the chords to be more solid before I teach you some of the subtleties of the pattern. Next time...
Dude, nice work with this song tonight. The only thing that is holding you back is the transition from the single line part to the chord part, and back too. If you were to focus in on those two parts, you'll really grab this song easily. The great news is that your picking is a lot faster, and it looks more effortless. It's good!
I think this couldn't be a better song for you to learn right now. The F and C transition is a common one, so it's nice to have an easygoing song to play and practice it with.
Bringing the rock and roll, two weeks a row! It looks like you couldn't have picked a better song to play. I'm serious about the tremolo picking, the faster-than-hell picking. It's really helpful for the speed picking. Also, your hand does just find when the fingers are curled... No need to uncurl them as you are playing the picking part.
Pleasure to meet you this evening. We went through a couple of things, including some strategies for chord progression movements, and a new song (Dead Flowers). The A chord that I showed you is also useful for making the transition between the D and G more painless.
Once again, great to meet you, and hope to see you soon!
Okay, it was a bit of a review today, but that's alright. Sometimes it helps to make sure everything is going good, and a little extra time never hurts anyone. The hard parts were having the final line of the chorus, and the transition of the A to the G. All it takes is repetition. Let's play it next week...
Good to see you again tonight. It was good fun to play some Petty. Also, we did some Deep Red Bells by Neko Case. Perhaps next week we will play that song, and do some others, but eventually I want to get to those creative loops... When you are ready!
Lesson Notes are a way of helping fellow learners focus their time and energy effectively, outside of lessons. Each lesson note has a summary and a practice suggestion that would take only five minutes to complete. I also provide a custom RSS feed of lesson notes for each student.
